“Comunidad de Fe”

In 2009 Tita was introduced to Erwin “Shorty” Luna – a pastor and former gang member who had planted churches in other communities in Guatemala City very similar to La Limonada. A friendship and partnership emerged as they both realized God’s calling to establish a community of faith in La Limonada.

They knew that this “Community of Faith” had to break the traditional and religious mold that kept a majority of the people of La Limonada from being part of a church. Organic gatherings began in homes throughout the community that quickly became “standing room only” – with people spilling out into the streets as the homes were filled with the sounds of music, prayer, and the reading and study of Scripture.

“Comunidad de Fe” was born out of this growing desire to know Jesus through community. A Saturday afternoon gathering – reflecting a more traditional church service – was added in 2010 as the gatherings in homes and house visits continue during the week. Whole families, challenged to embrace and follow in the way of Jesus, are actively seeking out and forming relationships, making this a true Community of Faith.

Churches and individuals in the United States have joined together with Comunidad de Fe through prayer, capacity building resources and financial support. If you are interested in a partnership with Comunidad de Fe contact Bill Cummings.
